Bowling Green is one of the most historic places in the Toledo area. The city was first settled in 1832 and is named after the city of Bowling Green, Kentucky. In the 19th and 20th centuries oil was found in the area which resulted in large houses and beautiful storefronts being built (many of which are standing and preserved today). A unique piece of history is that bank robbers Pretty Boy Floyd and Billy The Killer met police here in 1931 with the encounter proving fatal for Billy.
This small collection of photos showcase murals in the area advertising businesses and local festivals, city buildings, and just a touch of the antique charm on display.
